Round 2 of the 2019 British F3 championship took place at Snetterton at the weekend (May 18th and 19th),with a total of three races taking place.

Race 1 saw Kiern Jewiss start from 3rd on the grid after a very close qualifying session. Kiern maintained his position and brought the Green Arrow home in 3rd to give Kiern and Douglas a first podium finish of the 2019 championship.

Benjamin Pederson completed the race in 10th position, his third successive 10th place. This time however he finished ahead of teammate Ulysse De Pauw in 11th.

It’s been about time! It was a hard Oulton Park for us but we’ve been pretty fast here so we had a good first race. We were never going to catch Johnathan, he had four new tyres compared to a lot of the grid only using two so it was always going to be hard work. I didn’t get the best of starts but at the end of the day I just had to bring it home.

We’d like to think we might have an advantage with tyres tomorrow but who knows, it could rain and then it could be a whole waste of time but it’s the intention to have a little bit left in the bag [new tyres] for later on. It’s pretty easy in these cars to drive normally and they can’t get anywhere near you because of the downforce, so I was kind of saving my tyres a bit because I knew I didn’t have the pace to get to Novalak, so I saved the tyres and we’ll see what we can do later on in the weekend.

Kiern Jewiss

3rd place, Race 1

Race 2 saw Uylsse De Pauw’s luck go from bad to worse, he suffered a puncture in the first turn which effectively ended his race. Kiern Jewiss started from close to the back of the grid thanks to his third place finish in race 1. Some bad luck meant Kiern didn’t progress the way he hoped and he ended the race in 13th.

The star of race 2 was undoubtedly Benjamin Pederson, starting in 7th place he quickly made his way up to 2nd position. He drove a solid race in second and brought his bright orange coloured Douglas Motorsport car home in 2nd. A great result for Benjamin and the team

It’s awesome, a lot of hard work has gone into that. Thanks to Douglas Motorsport for giving me a great car for the race. The start was absolutely amazing, I couldn’t have imagined it being any better so I think that was ultimately what gave us this result. And then I just kept a cool head without making any mistakes and I’m really happy with this.

In Formula 3 racing the start is a lot about the start without making any mistakes. I’m keeping my head down for the next race, there’s one more to go and I’m all focused for that now.

Benjamin Pederson

2nd place, Race 2

Race 3 saw Kiern Jewiss’ luck go from bad to worse. He was taken out of the race on the first lap. Benjamin Pederson was also hit by another car during safety car conditions which caused him to leave the circuit. Benjamin managed an 8th place finish in the race, one place behind Ulysse De Pauw in 7th.

Douglas Motorsport drivers Ulysse De Pauw, Kiern Jewiss, Benjamin Pederson occupy 8th, 9th and 10th places respectively in the overall championship standings.

It’s off to Silverstone for round 3 of the championship on June 8th and 9th.
