Round 3 of the 2019 British F3 championship brought the teams and drivers to Silverstone this weekend (June 8th and 9th).
The standout moment of the weekend came in race 2 when Benjamin Pedersen took the race win. After running in the top 10 during race 1 Pedersen suffered misfortune after contact forced him down the running order. However he was able to turn his misfortune around and take advantage of the reverse grid in race 2.
Starting from pole Pedersen managed a great start to keep him in first at the first corner. He was able to maintain that lead for the entire race and bring the bright orange Douglas Motorsport machine home in first place.
I’m really happy with that, we finished second at Snetterton and now we’ve gone that one place higher. To do it here at a Formula One track, especially Silverstone, is just so amazing and to lead it from lights out to the finish line was really special.
It was quite a straightforward race, just a matter of not making any mistakes and keeping my head cool and looking forward. Obviously you’re monitoring the gap so you’re checking the gap behind you but by no means was it an easy race, there was a lot of focus involved and I’m very happy with the overall performance.
The goal now is to get more wins, it’s a long trip here from America and I don’t want anything else other than to win so that’s why we’re here.
The race win was the standout moment for the team over the weekend. The final race saw Kiern Jewiss finish in fourth position after a combative race which included included a two way overtaking move. After finishing 6th on the road, Jewiss benefitted after 5 second penalties were handed out to the top two finishers for track limit penalties.
Ulysse de Pauw took home the most points of the weekend for the team with a 7th, 8th and 11th place finish in the three races. He sits in 8th place in the overall championship standings with Kiern Jewiss in 9th and Benjamin Pedersen in 10th.
The championship moves to Donington Park for the next round of races on June 22nd and 23rd.
